Be Brave Enough to Wait

Strength comes when you least expect it

Contemplate the seemingly contradictory mystery of those who walk in power.

“They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31, ESV)

Not those who pray to the Lord —
Or believe in the Lord —
Or read the word of the Lord —
But those who do all of these things and then, instead of running forward in their own ideas and plans and energy, they wait.

And these blessed waiters, those who wait for their orders, trusting their Commander, patient and waiting until the time is right, these amazing waiting people:

“shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, ESV)

21st century society declares that those who walk in power are those who act when everyone else waits. Success comes to those who never stop, never sleep, never cease, never rest.

They will grow tired and weary. Even the best of them will stumble and fall.

But those who wait for the Lord — those who wait, truly wait, trusting that the command will soon be given, at exactly the right time — these are…
