This Juneteenth, Let’s Remember Where We Began
Catching up to the beginning
At the dawn of humanity, God declared every human being to be full of dignity and fully equal. He created us in His image.
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27, NIV)
Could any dignity be greater than bearing the image of God? Could any human achievement ever match the grandeur of carrying the likeness of God with you everywhere you go?
All humanity shares this dignity equally. Every skin color, every gender, every level of mental ability, every financial strata, every individual who has ever lived — all of us find our unity in the image of God we share.
We are family.
Family can be messy. But one thing defines family over friendship: family ties can’t be severed. Blood calls out to blood. Your parents are always your parents; your siblings are always your siblings; your DNA is always your own unique DNA.
And we are all one family.
